Rafael Uribe. Medellin 20-09- 1.884.

His second Newspaper is The Autonomist. Bogotá. 1.898.

Rafael Uribe, in this News Paper expresses his concept about the 1.895 war, which he participated leading the Liberals group against the Government Conservative army.

In another article he published his interview with Sanclemente, who were the Colombian president in 1.899 just when the "Thousands Days War" was about to start. "The Liberal" was the last newspaper he owned and directed. In 1.911 not long after he signed peace treaty with the government, was published on it an article with the title "Rights and Might" where he explained the importance of the ideology on a war.

These are some quotations are on it:

"If we want peace, let’s go to war" "The survival of the fittest"
"Spade with out balance is brutal might, but it is worst balance without spade"
"Everybody has rights, the important is how to defendant them". It is as truth that we left the war behind, but we won’t forget the defence of our rights any time.

Rafael Uribe, Bogotá, 16-05-1.911. Rafael Uribe was murder in 1.914; this fact happened in the stairs of the Colombian Congress Gate, where he was representative. At the time of that fatidic moment occur he was holding in his hands a project of workers defence.

The book underlines the role of Colombian politician and revolutionary Rafael Uribe as a journalist as an ideologist. He was a big participant of the Colombia history by 19 and 20 centuries in an atmosphere of civil wars.

He made ideological influence using his pen with his liberal tendency in Colombia at the time of post independence. The liberals supported federalism and the conservatives agreed with centralism, at the same time both parties divided themselves and many wars happened looking for power.

The work relates the process of the "Thousand Days War" as well "The Panama Separation from Colombia", the insides of "The Declaration of Peace" and Uribe’s Murder in 1.914 when he was Senator Representative.

It is clear that the ideological process at the time was behind those who were fighting and their newspapers became the protagonists of:

The first Uribe Newspaper was "El Trabajo" 1.884. It is remarkable an article which he included his own resignation as a Public Prosecutor. The reasons he had for it was the precarious conditions of the Colombian Justice system at the time and the common political corruption he did not wanted accept anymore.

He ended the article with this sentence:
"It is not honest for me in this job to keep collecting money for free".
